Medical education

The practice is actively involved in medical education providing training for postgraduate GP registrars and medical students. These doctors are gaining experience in General Practice and share with us all aspects of medical care and are subject by the same rules of patient confidentiality.

Sometimes students sit in with GP’s and nurses during surgeries. You will always be told when they are present and it is your right to decide whether you want them to stay. We will always respect your wishes and your decision will not affect your care in any way.

The current GP trainer is Dr Chris Jessop, who has been an approved trainer since 1999, was an examiner for the MRCGP exam from 2001 – 2006, and is currently working with his tenth registrar. We aim to offer a friendly, supportive and stimulating learning environment, and the GP registrar is very much part of our practice team. We encourage prospective registrars to visit to meet our current registrar to hear their experiences of working at the surgery, to see the practice, and to meet the trainer and the rest of the team.

The GP registrar is part of the Hunts GP Vocational Training Scheme.
